Frequently asked questions
How are words counted and tokenized?
The counter lowercases your text, then treats every run of letters and digits as one word — so "don't" stays together and "3rd" counts as a word. Punctuation on its own is ignored.
What happens when I exclude stop words?
Stop words are very common function words such as "the", "of", "and" and "to". Excluding them removes the noise so the ranking shows the words your text is actually about. The total word count always reports the full text either way.
How is the share percentage calculated?
Each word's share is its count divided by the number of words currently being ranked (the whole text, or the text minus stop words). Percentages are shown to one decimal place.
How are ties in the ranking sorted?
Words with the same count are sorted alphabetically, so the list is stable and easy to scan or compare between runs.
Is my text uploaded anywhere?
No. Everything runs in your browser as you type — the text never leaves your device and nothing is stored.
